Why it’s important to share links on Google+

Google-Plus-ShThere are a lot of topics about the benefits of “Social Marketing” over the net. Among other social networks, Google Plus might be the best and most rewarding.

It’s very important for a blogger to share the link of their new blog post on Google+ for the following reasons:

  • Your link will appear immediately on Google search through the G+ post. Moreover, it’ll be at the top of search results.
  • Your link will be open for more +1s. The more +1s your link gets, the higher its ranking is. Nothing official in this regard though.

A link will get +1 through one or more of the following:

  • Each sharing of the link to Google+.
  • +1 on the G+ post that contains the link (or sharing it).
  • +1 on the blog post itself through the official button of Google+. (see also my Letter to WordPress)

SO, start auto sharing your blog posts to Google Plus. AND, follow people with similar interests and give them +1s. They usually pay the favor back and +1 yours.

I was just writing about Networking on Google + but still in the works. I agree with what you are saying though.

I’ve never done anything with Google + so I have a lot to learn. Anything that lets me meet more bloggers is a good thing, though. Since you had me post on your blog, I’ve met oodles of new people! I’ve had such fun reading new blogs. Thanks so much for this tip!

You’re most welcome, Linda. It’s easy to set up your Google+ account if you already have a Gmail. Then, auto sharing through the settings on WordPress will do it for you.

Thank you, Mohamad. I just about to ask you how to do the auto-sharing part. I had no idea doing that allowed us to stay on top of the Google searches. I’ll do it right now. Haha

As you connect your Google+ account in settings, it’ll auto share new blog posts. Please refer to this article: https://en.support.wordpress.com/publicize/

I think you put the wrong URL to your G+ on your website!

      6. Renata Avatar

I really did! I didn’t know you were the username corresponded to the sequence of numbers that appear in the URL. Thx

Thank you for this info. I noticed this very capability the other day and thought I should take a look at, now your idea is reinforcing my hunch to try out sharing in Google. Thank you.

oh it takes hell lots of time to write and share..when to live then, lol?

    1. Mohamad Al Karbi Avatar

Good point. But I think bloggers should not have a normal life 😀
Though, you can do half of the work through settings on WordPress (auto sharing)

      1. raynotbradbury Avatar

Do you see yourself as a blogger?
I don’t think I’m a blogger. Not really. I don’t want feel stressed – “I have to write, I have to post”…nope. I like to feel free, if I don’t feel like writing for a week- it’s ok. But a real blogger should be very consistent- and write communicate almost each day. Too much haha
Yes I have some autosharing. Not a big fan of it as well…but it’s difficult to be in diff online-places in one day, so it works OK.

      2. Mohamad Al Karbi Avatar

I usually post my opinions and nagging on Twitter. WordPress for me is when a tweet is not enough. What you’re describing here, Victoria, is how I see the real bloggers (those who share their opinions/feelings when they feel the need to). But others with routine or scheduling things, they are professionals. Which isn’t me of course. However, I believe that each start needs a professional work at the beginning… Lucky you, you travel a lot not like me – I’m a poor guy! 😀

      3. raynotbradbury Avatar

Yes maybe…they are all tooooo professional to me. Haha
Yes, traveling is fun. But lots of money & time for sure.

      4. Mohamad Al Karbi Avatar

Hope that traveling won’t prevent you from visiting us. I always like your way in commenting…

      5. raynotbradbury Avatar

Yep, summer can be difficult you know haha lots of garden-work, hanging out outside with dogs & relatives visits :)) but I’ll do my best 🙂

      6. Mohamad Al Karbi Avatar

        Now, you’re teasing me… hehehe

      7. raynotbradbury Avatar

Haha no worries, we r WordPress-souls 🙂 we r always here somewhere lol

  7. raynotbradbury Avatar

Agreed tho. I do have Google +, but I’m lazy with it :)) sometimes I post there tho haha

    1. Mohamad Al Karbi Avatar

I do it bi-weekly. That’s, I visit Google Plus twice a week for half an hour each to spread my +1s to those I follow 😉

      1. raynotbradbury Avatar

Ah ok :)) no, I don’t do it haha 😂

I am sharing on my Author Twitter page, and my Author Facebook account&page, and on my personal facebook account. Another way to share and increase traffic? Sign me up! LOL. And to also add my thoughts to the conversation above about whether or not you are a Blogger? Consistency is the answer to that question. Once a day, once a week, once a month, the frequency can vary, but if there are consistent posts on a regular basis, that is what qualifies a Blogger in my opinion. Once a year would not qualify, but once a month would.

    1. Mohamad Al Karbi Avatar

Personally, I think sharing to G+ is more rewarding as explained above. Unfortunately, Facebook is playing bad game by not showing links shared on FB pages without paying (promoting). Twitter might be better in my opinion than FB.
Now, that is good point, Tish. A blogger with post or two every few months isn’t a blogger at all…

      1. Tish MacWebber Avatar
        Tish MacWebber

Once a week is a good way to start building a blog. I have 2 regular scheduled blogs I publish every week, and a sprinkling of whatever else happens to pop up is gravy. My minimum is the Trust your Gut and Weekend Warrior. I have been late on the Weekend Warrior the last 2 weeks, and this week I am getting ready to publish it on Saturday, not Sunday. I don’t answer to anyone but myself and my readers on this, and I have kept those two consistent on a weekly basis. The key is the consistency, not the number of stories or articles published. I learned this in an online seminar, so it is not just my opinion, here.

      2. Mohamad Al Karbi Avatar

Wow, two blogs?! I only know this one of yours, Tish. Is it difficult to manage two blogs at the same time?
