Grazie mille, Mohamad Al Karbi for the opportunity to post about a beautiful town in Tuscany, Italy called Castellina in Chianti. If you are in Siena, this is the perfect place for a day trip even without a car!
How To Commute To Castellina in Chianti From Siena
I took the 11:15 AM bus to Castellina in Chianti from the Fontebecci bus stop (53100, Siena). The cost of the round-trip tickets is 7 euros. (Just tell the bus driver to drop you off at the city center.) I left Castellina in Chianti at about 4:06 PM and took the bus back to Siena.
The Weekend Market
I arrived at about 11:45 AM just in time for the weekend market in the city center! Here you can buy various kinds of Tuscan cheeses, wine, food and souvenir items. The weekend market opens at 9:00 AM and closes at 3:00 PM.

I was delighted to see a floral shop selling sunflowers! It really brightened up my day!

Via della Volte (Tunnel of Light)
Next, I visited the photography exhibition at the Via della Volte. I saw pictures of typical Tuscan scenery as I walked down the winding tunnel. I enjoyed looking out the windows overlooking the fields and hills.
Buon Appetito!
All that exploring made me hungry for pasta! I highly recommend Ristorante Sotto le Volte, a restaurant just outside the mouth of the tunnel. I ordered a delicious slice of lasagna paired with red Chianti wine. For dessert, I had cheesecake with seasonal fruit. Molto buono!

Afternoon Stroll: “Passeggiata”
After I had my pasta and wine, I was ready to see the rest of the comune. Castellina in Chianti is such a charming town to explore on foot. There is a beautiful surprise around every corner! It is a lovely La Dolce Vita experience.

The Archaeological Museum (Museo Archaeologico del Chianti Senese)
A unique feature of Castellina in Chianti is that it has a museum filled with Etruscan art and artifacts. It is set up in a medieval fortress and displays a collection of archaeological finds illustrating the history of the Chianti area. For me, the best part of the museum was climbing up the tower and seeing the majestic view of the rolling hills “under the Tuscan sun”. It was the perfect ending to a day well spent.
