Only a 38 minute flight from Atlanta, Georgia indulge in a visit to the enchanting city of Savannah. Best viewed by walking the historic district and experiencing the city by the water that is rich in history, culture, beauty, cuisine and repurposed spaces!! Kudos to Savannah for their vision.

Should you want to experience the most enchanting city in the South? Plan your stay at http://www.marriott.com/hotels/maps/travel/savad-mansion-on-forsyth-park-autograph-collection, Mansion on Forsyth Park, Autograph Collection (Marriott Hotels). Visit the park across the street, walk down to the waterfront and see the “Waving Girl” The Waving Girl, Savannah, Georgia.

Make a stop at Leopold’s Ice Cream (opened in 1919), visit the cemetery after dark and admire the oak trees covered in Spanish moss. This city and the people took my breath away.

Savannah, Georgia has repurposed buildings with great care and vision.  Make sure you reserve a table at Local 11ten, a restored Old Savannah bank building (circa 1950’s) at Duffy and Bull Street. The repurposed building, the ambience, decor, staff and food was superb.  Do not miss this venue.

  1. Savannah looks beautiful. I would love to visit one day, although I’d have really loved to have visited between 1733 and 1755 when Savannah was so progressive that not only did it ban slaves but also lawyers with the intention the city should be “free from that pest and scourge of mankind”. On the down side, they also banned liquor so visiting today may have its advantages!

  2. I finally made it to Savannah! Loved it! (Just got back a couple of days ago.) Interesting to see your pictures now that I’ve been there.

(With a name like Georgia I was excited to finally step foot in the state.)
