Make a stop at Leopold’s Ice Cream (opened in 1919), visit the cemetery after dark and admire the oak trees covered in Spanish moss. This city and the people took my breath away.
Savannah, Georgia has repurposed buildings with great care and vision. Make sure you reserve a table at Local 11ten, a restored Old Savannah bank building (circa 1950’s) at Duffy and Bull Street. The repurposed building, the ambience, decor, staff and food was superb. Do not miss this venue.

Savannah looks beautiful. I would love to visit one day, although I’d have really loved to have visited between 1733 and 1755 when Savannah was so progressive that not only did it ban slaves but also lawyers with the intention the city should be “free from that pest and scourge of mankind”. On the down side, they also banned liquor so visiting today may have its advantages!
