My Home Town Cookeville TN USA 5 – Fino Winos of Middle TN USA

Upper Cumberland Wine Trail 2017-2

When most people worldwide think of wine, they think of Italy, France, and Spain. When folks in North America think of American wine they think of California. When we think of the Southern United States particularly Tennessee and Kentucky, folks think of illegal moonshine stills back in the woods of days gone by. However, even moonshine has become a home craft pastime and a way for folks to legally brew old time moonshine safely to help shed the old time hillbilly stereotype of our area.

Our area wineries strive to complement the fine wines like those created in other areas of the country and the world.

An Adventure in Taste – Upper Cumberland Wine Trail, has reminded me that our area offers eight wineries that are within 50 +/- miles of my hometown of Cookeville TN USA.

(Don’t drink and drive…always have your designated driver!!!)

I knew about DelMonaco Winery and Vineyards because I pass their sign each day on my way home from work. They have a beautiful area which is often used for weddings, reunions and other such local events. It is nice to have such a beautiful area to visit and enjoy so close to my home.

Stonehaus Winery in Crossville TN is quite famous in our community as well. At times they offer specialty wines such as an orange wine to honor the Orange and White uniforms of the University of Tennessee – Knoxville football team.

Chestnut Hill Winery is in the same area of Crossville TN for people who wish to compare and contrast the local flavors from each of the wineries.

Highland Manor Winery in Jamestown TN is a stop off for folks who are visiting the Historic Rugby community or Big Southfork Recreation Areas.

But I have to admit that the remainder of wineries on the list was a complete surprise to me.

Red Barn Winery & Vineyards in Lafayette TN is in a beautiful area of Middle TN a bit off Interstate 40, and closer to old time relaxed country living.

Holly Ridge Winery & Vineyards in Livingston, TN is just off Hwy 111 for an easy place to find for anyone searching for a special place to visit on a day trip or any road trip.

Northfield Vineyards Sparta TN would be a stop for folks who are visiting Burgess Falls State Park.

Cellar 53 Winery and Vineyards Brush Creek TN though closer to Interstate 40 than the Red Barn Winery & Vineyards is still in an area that is more laid back and easy going.

Knowing that so many people in our area are utilizing our natural resources to create wines and spirits to be savored and enjoyed by locals and visitors alike, makes me proud of being a part of this Upper Cumberland area in Middle TN, USA.

So take a moment to travel to our area by visiting the links in this article.

We enjoy having you here!
